Eco Rustic Luxury
Tiny House
Completed in 2025, this tiny house on wheels was a full collaboration between Cate's design and Chad's craftsmanship. Rather than build a client's vision, which can limit creative freedom, we both enjoyed having the opportunity to design and build to our own taste. The perfect buyers saw it, loved, it, and drove it to it's new home on the island's south side.
Treehouse Masters Collaboration
Pete Nelson, from the TV show Treehouse Masters, hired Chad's team to collaborate on a custom designed treehouse, right here in our very own neighborhood. TM had their own designers, with Chad and his crew working alongside them to execute the build. Watch the hour-long Hawaii episode here. It was a unique and special experience!
The Virginia Houses
Covid was a time of intense change for many people worldwide. Our family temporarily left Kauai with no clear plan, and ended up purchasing two homes in Virginia that needed full rehabs. One had a farmhouse vibe, located on a few acres with a beautiful stream in the backyard. The other was a bungalow right near Main St. We really enjoyed the creative process, with total design freedom, in a random little world very different from our island home.
Puakea Ranch
Historic Restoration
Puakea Ranch holds a special place in Chad's heart, as this job brought him to the islands originally. Since then, he's developed a sincere love for historical, single wall Hawaiian plantation-style buildings. Located in Hawi, on the Big Island, he worked alongside historic preservation consultants, keeping as many original elements as possible, while maximizing function & beauty. This project has been featured on a TV show called Planet Green, in Conde Nast Traveller, USA Today, and more.
The Beach House
A classic Kauai beach house, this remodel required a complete overhaul, taken down to the studs. The homeowner had his own designer, and Chad managed the build. As a beachfront home, we dealt with numerous permitting complications and delays, an inherent aspect of oceanfront construction here on Kauai. In the end, the homeowner ended up with the permitted, legal vacation rental he had dreamed of.
The Fleming's First Home
This project was near and dear to us, as it was our very first time becoming homeowners. Many people called it a "tear down" but we had a vision. With open beam ceilings, skylights, and solid redwood framing, we knew it had potential to shine. It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but it was definitely worth every drop.
