First St, Wytheville Virginia

We purchased this home, gutted to the studs, during Covid, unsure of our future plans.  All we knew was that we wanted to work with our hands, while we waited for Kauai's mandates to stabilize.  It turned out to be a very special place to call home, just when our family needed it.  We sourced old oak wood from an abandoned barn that we used for accent ceilings and barn doors,  and opened up the dining and living spaces to flow.  We added a giant outdoor lanai that overlooked the large backyard,  firepit and stream, where my kids spent hours playing and making nature mandalas. It was a sweet home and a very fun project.

Twelve St, Wytheville Virginia

While renovating the farmhouse on First St,  still unsure of the future for our family, we we given the opportunity to purchase a very derelict "druggie" house just down the road.  It was a bit ambitious to tackle both homes on our own, but we did it! This house underwent a massive transformation. Bringing a soul-less house back to life brings so much joy! We did some significant layout changes to the interior, which created a much better flow.  We furnished it on a budget, finding up-cycled and yard sale pieces.  The last few photos are BEFORE, for reference.
